SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is a topical peptide used in skincare to soften the look of expression lines. It's modelled on a natural protein the body uses to signal muscle movement, and can be applied to the skin in a serum, not injected. It works gradually, with consistent use.
What is SNAP-8TM
SNAP-8TM is the common name for a peptide called acetyl octapeptide-3. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as messengers in the skin, and this one has a specific job: easing the look of expression lines, the lines that form around the eyes, forehead and mouth from years of repeated movement.
It's not an injectable nor is it a substitute for clinic treatments. It offers a considered, everyday way to help those lines look less pronounced over time.
How SNAP-8TM works
Expression lines form because facial muscles contract every time you frown, squint or smile. Those contractions are triggered by signals passed between nerve and muscle, and over the years the repeated movement presses lines into the skin.
SNAP-8TM is designed to ease that signalling at the surface. It's patterned on part of a natural protein called SNAP-25, which the body uses to release those muscle signals, and it competes for a place in the signalling machinery known as the SNARE complex. The result is a gentler, less intense contraction, which is what helps expression lines look softened over time.

Is SNAP-8 an injection?
No. This is the most common misunderstanding. SNAP-8TM is a topical peptide, applied to the skin in a serum or cream. It's not injected, and it's not the same as an in-clinic muscle-relaxing treatment. It works on the surface gradually, and it suits daily use.
What to expect
SNAP-8 is a considered ingredient, not an overnight one. It works gradually, with consistent twice-daily use, on the look of expression lines rather than the deeper structure of the skin. Give it time and use it as directed, and let it work alongside the other actives in the serum rather than in place of them.
